Tuesday Morning Women’s Book Group
The Tuesday Women’s Book Group is embarking on a new book adventure, “A Piece of the World” by Christina Baker Kline. Like many of us, the author was drawn to a famous Andrew Wyeth painting called “Christina’s World.” This artwork portrays a woman lying in the grass, straining to look ahead at a barn and a house. Who is this woman? Why does she seem to move so slowly toward her destination? Is she handicapped or what?
These are questions that Kline sought to answer in her novel, which is based on the life of Christina Olson, the handicapped woman in Wyeth’s painting. This is a fictional account of this mysterious woman’s life.
